Would like to have suggestions on Brands , power, and price. Don’t really want to spend too much money. Thanks for the help.
Look at the Alpen scopes, great scopes for a cheap price. If anything is wrong with the scope Alpen will back it up 100%. As for power, anything around 20x is good for 100 yards, most scopes have a zoom, the most common being 20-60x.
I use scopes at 100 yards for archery, where you need to be able to distinguish the colors of the arrow nocks. The Alpen 60mm scope does just fine, the 80mm is better though more expensive at $400 compared to $150 for the 60mm.
EDIT
I also own a Barska, 20-60X 60mm scope. Optically speaking there’s no difference between that and the Alpen. Where the Alpen excels is with its waterproofing. The Barska will start to fog when it rains hard, the Alpen stays clear even in torrential rain. Pricewise, they’re about the same, with the Alpen probably about $10-$20 more for the same size scope.
Might be something here that meets your requirements…
barska
available at the local Big5 sporting goods store. a cheap one starts at 90 bucks. The price doesn’t reflect the lack of quality. the quality of comparable to other industry leaders in spotting scopes.
What I did for this was to buy a high-power variable rifle scope. Its was a Barska 6-32×50mm IR scope. I use 6 to 10 power for most shooting, the zoom to 32x to see precisely where my bullets went. Its costs 20 dollars cheaper than the spotting scope.
20x should be enough for 100 yards and prices can range from $83 bucks to more…
you can buy a lesser scope and buy additional zoom lenses if youd like.
